His goal is to steal the Kingdom Stone, the planet's sole source of energy, and then rebuild his spaceship and continue his dreams of galactic conquest, hoping to use the Kingdom Stone to greatly empower his army and become unstoppable. Lord Arktivus Brevon, or better known as Lord Brevon, is the main antagonist of the 2014 indie video game Freedom Planet, the overarching antagonist of Freedom Planet 2 and the arch-nemesis of both Sash Lilac and Torque. He is an intergalactic warlord who crash-lands on the planet Avalice after an intense battle. ~ Lord Brevon to Lilac before the first phase of his battle. Lord Brevon: I have no use for forgiveness, especially from someone who puts my homeworld at risk for an oversized battery. ~ Lord Brevon during the infamous torture scene. I'll bet I could hack at your limbs all day and you'd still find a way to bite back. Thankfully, there is a Classic Mode which you can only play through the levels without any cut-scenes or story whatsoever. That's nice to know, but I was more interested in your resolve. There is a story mode to this game, but sadly the story isn't very good, the writing in this game isn't the most terrible thing out there, but the overly long cut-scenes and so so voice acting makes this story pretty cringe worthy at times, though I have to admit, it does have it's moments but they're few and far between. They all have unique designs and don't look like throw-away cartoon characters you'd see in games like this, I wish I could've said the same about the story. Milla is the weakest one despite having the ability to dig and fly for a few seconds, but I can think of it as the hard mode of this game if I wanted a bit more challenge for me second run. Lilac is the fast one and can pull off few impressive acrobatic moves, Carol is slower, but she can wall jump and use her motorcycle throughout the level if you find the fuel canister. You can play as 3 characters in this game, Lilac, Carol and Milla (which you can unlock later in the game), each and everyone of them has unique mechanics and abilities that can help you traverse the levels. Also, in each level there is a "Yin-Yang" symbol hidden where if you collect it, you'd play a little mini-game where you can either start the next level with a power-up or a have an extra life. Also the enemies won't be able to hurt you unless they try to attack you, so you can run past them without taking any damage. There are also a lot of shield power-ups like in Sonic 3 and even an invincibility power-up that you can find in some levels. The boss fights in this game are one of the best I've had in a 2D platfroming game, there are a lot of strategy involved in them and in return is makes for a fun experience. These differences actually helped the developers make more varied and complex enemies to deal with than Sonic and better yet, more compelling boss fights. This makes Freedom Planet a tad more action oriented that Sonic but it doesn't detract from the excellent platforming in any way. And the second difference is that you have a lot more moves you can use to kill enemies and there is a power meter that you'll drain if you used certain attack moves, you can even have a more powerful charging attack that drains the entire meter. The first is it does have an actual health bar instead of just losing the rings. What makes this game different from Sonic the Hedgehog is two major things. Though the game also is riddled with great platforming challenges that hit this sweet middle ground where it's not overly challenging but not a cake-walk either,it has a difficulty curve that you have to ascend in order to master this game. The gameplay of Freedom Planet heavily borrows from Sonic the Hedgehog, and but that I mean it's a platform game where you can go incredibly fast in one direction.
